Share video on Bluesky!

After much anticipation, you can now share videos on Bluesky! Let’s dive right into the quick facts.

Quick facts

• Each post can contain one video.
• Videos can be up to 60 seconds long.
• Bluesky currently supports .mp4, .mpeg, .webm, and .mov video files.
• By default, videos will auto-play. You can turn off auto-play in Settings.

Update to version 1.91 of the mobile app or refresh desktop to begin watching video on Bluesky. We're rolling out the ability to post video gradually to ensure a smooth experience.

• You can attach subtitles to your video.
• Currently, you can upload 25 videos / 10 GB of video per day. We may tweak this limit.

At Bluesky, the product team works hand-in-hand with Trust & Safety to develop new features. Here’s the safety tooling available with video:

• You must verify your email before you can upload a video. This is one step to decrease spam and abuse with video.
• You can apply labels to your own videos, for example, for adult content.
• You can submit reports to Bluesky’s moderation team for posts with video. These posts may be labeled or taken down. Video that contains illegal content will be purged from our infrastructure.
• For users that repeatedly violate our community guidelines with video content, Bluesky’s moderation team may remove your ability to upload videos.
• Every video is processed via Hive and Thorn to scan for content that requires a content warning or content that should be taken down (e.g. illegal material like CSAM).
• When you delete a post that contains video, the video will be deleted immediately. Shortly afterwards, the data will be entirely purged from Bluesky infrastructure as well.
